Still waiting for the paperless office? You might be waiting for a
while…
I remember when computers were touted as being the end of office paper
use but several years on we are still waiting. In fact in many areas
office paper use has increased.
Now here at the office paper supermarket we love office paper but we
hate waste. So below are some top tips to help you make the most of
your paper resources.
- Sometimes you have to send a physical letter through the post but
more often than not an email would do. If you find you are sending out
a great deal of post why not see if you can’t encourage email use
instead.
- When you do receive or send emails don’t be tempted to print them
out. They will read the same on a screen as they do on paper. The same
goes for documents.
- Try to cut down on your post-it note habit. Send an email or make
an electronic note instead.
- Recycle, recycle, recycle. Make sure you do your bit for the
environment by recycling your office paper. You should also try to
think about buying recycled
paper.
- If you end up with lots of scraps of paper or used print outs
that are only used on one side why not use then as make shift notepads.
- Keep your to-do lists on the computer. This will not only cut
down on paper use but you may actually find it easier to keep up as
your computer can give you reminders and updates.
- Instead of handing out leaflets or photocopiers to staff for
information why not set up an intranet or section of your website for
staff news and updates.
- Use electronic forms over printed ones like invoices and billing
information. This will save you money and time.
Instigating a few or all of the above measures should go a long way to
helping you cut down
office
paper consumption.
