With facts like these and the ones mentioned in this article, we can’t help but wonder what we can do to alleviate this problem. Unfortunately, no one person can eradicate this problem. The solution lies in the collective of millions of small actions everyday. It’s amazing what could happen if we all made a little effort towards reducing our landfill waste and increasing the proportion of paper waste that we recycle.

Within the office products industry the obvious concern is how much paper we are using. As the paperless office is a long way off yet, we can make a difference by buying certain types of paper that have been ethically sourced. Most paper mills who produce the paper we consume are leagues ahead of us in terms of sustainability; to find out just what they are doing in order to save our planet, please click on the link below.
This particular mini-documentary comes from International Paper who supply paper for HP amongst other brands, and documents what mills of this status must now do in order to ensure increasingly environmentally aware customers continue to buy their end product.

In a business sense, this has opened up the market for the slightly more expensive, but generally better quality branded papers such as HP, Navigator, Canon and Datacopy to name but a few. Their everyday quality paper can be viewed as the next step up the ladder from the usual C-grade cheap paper that we tend to buy in bulk, and as such we’ll probably be seeing a lot more advertising and promotions from them as they fight for attention in the marketplace.

It won't purchase carbon offsets, either, so it aims to reform its practices in a way that prevents the release of carbon or re-captures as much as was released, according to the Toronto Star. It will address even the amount of paper that ends up in landfills (it's been estimated that 25% of U.S. landfills is paper waste), since paper decomposing releases methane, a potent greenhouse gas.
This move has a potentially huge significance with Canada being the world’s second largest producer of paper and pulp products and the world’s largest exporter of paper and pulp products.

An environmental-friendly paper range . . . Still waiting for the paperless office? You might be waiting for a

while…

I remember when computers were touted as being the end of office paper

use but several years on we are still waiting. In fact in many areas

office paper use has increased.

Now here at the office paper supermarket we love office paper but we

hate waste. So below are some top tips to help you make the most of

your paper resources. Sometimes you have to send a physical letter through the post but

more often than not an email would do. If you find you are sending out

a great deal of post why not see if you can’t encourage email use

instead. When you do receive or send emails don’t be tempted to print them

out. They will read the same on a screen as they do on paper. The same

goes for documents.Try to cut down on your post-it note habit. Send an email or make

an electronic note instead.Recycle, recycle, recycle. Make sure you do your bit for the

environment by recycling your office paper. You should also try to

think about buying recycled

paper. If you end up with lots of scraps of paper or used print outs

that are only used on one side why not use then as make shift notepads.Keep your to-do lists on the computer. This will not only cut

down on paper use but you may actually find it easier to keep up as

your computer can give you reminders and updates.Instead of handing out leaflets or photocopiers to staff for

information why not set up an intranet or section of your website for

staff news and updates.Use electronic forms over printed ones like invoices and billing

information. This will save you money and time.

Instigating a few or all of the above measures should go a long way to

helping you cut down office

paper consumption.

I learned something today!

I just had a revelation that will probably make me look very, very stupid, but I’m going to tell you about it anyway because it’s just changed my life (no heckling at the back). You know those blotters that you used to get on your desk? The ones with the really nice absorbent paper that you could tear off after a bit of use? Well, it turns out that they’re not for doodling after all! Seriously, you weren’t meant to use them to draw life pictures at all, they were for ‘blotting’ (clues in the name I guess).
I only found this out when I decided to treat myself to a fountain pen. When I say ‘treat’, I mean pop one in the trolley at ASDA because it was 87p and I just can’t let a bargain go when I see one. Anyway, I’ve been using this pen and whilst on a customer site filling out an oh-so-important contract, the nice fella took the contract after I’d signed it and popped it text-down on the blotter on his desk.
No longer did I have to wave my but of paper to dry it, it was dried on the blotter!!!Yes, I know in this day and age of 3d movies, all your music in a one inch square of plastic and JLS that this might sound a bit odd, but I totally believe that every day is a school day and my life is now better for it.
I’ll get me coat.
Oh, of course we sell these things too, so you can go get yourself a blotter from our site.

Office staff fill the boss's office with used office paper

Getting through a lot of office paper at work? Well when the boss went away for a holiday at one American office the workers decided to amuse themselves by disposing of their used paper, print outs and reports in a specially designated area – the boss’s office. So great was the buildings paper usage that the paper soon started to mount up. By the time their boss returned the paper was deeper than a man.
Check out the pictures of this prank voted best ever office pranks below.
Don't forget to keep your office fully stocked with A4 paper.

Fascinating things to do with paper...other than print on it, that is...

Let's face it, most of us simply use paper to print stuff or blot up coffee or something, it's everywhere and so we don't really think too much about it when we come to use it. But this is the Internet generation and obviously there are people out there who could find interesting uses for a bottle top - so paper should be a doddle. It was with this in mind that I decided to take a look at YouTube and see what I could find that might interest you, my noble reader and it was then I was a little bit embarrassed. You see I'd forgotten about the most common use of paper other than the humble printer, Origami. Remember that at school when you'd take a bit of scrap paper and turn it into a duck? In my case the duck looked more like a screwed up sweet wrapper, but the thought was there. Now we have the Internet though and if you're at all interested in doing something other than feeding your paper through a inkjet and directly into the bin, check these out. In fact, if you can do better, why not send in your efforts and we'll display the best here. Oh, this guy's using a napkin so you can learn while eating your dinner.
